Stanley Cup Playoffs, Night 30

The Ducks needed to win tonight in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals or else risk being put in the same position as Buffalo at this very important point in the playoffs. Luckily for them, fate was in their favor.

Ducks 4, Red Wings 3, 1OT
Series tied 1-1
It took just 14 minutes of overtime for Scott Niedermayer to even the series for Anaheim. His brother Rob gave the Ducks the first lead of the game in the final minutes of the first period. Midway through the second period, Kirk Maltby tied things up for Detroit during an Anaheim power play. Not great. But just a minute later, Andy McDonald regained the Anaheim lead. The back-and-forth continued as Nicklas Lidstrom got the equalizer with the man advantage. A minute into the third period, Pavel Datsyuk got the Red Wings their first lead of the game. A short time later Travis Moen tied the game for the last time. That sent it to OT and here we are. Versus had the game but I couldn't watch, being at work and all.
